NITDA Scholarship 2019 (Here Is How To Apply)

The NITDA Scholarship 2019 portal is open for fresh applications and will be closed on 21 November 2019.

Since 2010, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has developed a Master’s (MSc) and PhD (PhD) scholarship program in the relevant areas of Information Technology (IT) driven by select Nigerian (Government and Private) Universities.

The NITDA anchors on the urgent need to bridge the digital divide with a core mandate to transform Nigeria into an IT-driven economy for global competitiveness.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for the 2019/2020 NITDA Scholarship Scheme as part of the Agency’s Scholarship Program.

The NITDA scholarship scheme aims to promote proficiency in IT skills at doctoral and masters degree levels. The specific areas the scheme targets are information technology (IT) and ICT law.

The scholarship award is solely merit-based and is evenly distributed among the six geopolitical zones including the FCT.

The Scholarships are targeted at two persons per State and the Federal Capital Territory at masters level and one per geographical zone at doctorate level. The scheme is intended to boost capacity building across Nigeria in key information technology fields.

Eligibility / Requirements for NITDA Scholarship (Nigerians)


Only universities and polytechnic lecturers with MSc in any computer and information technology related field are eligible to apply for sponsorship.


Holders of First-class or second-class (upper) Honours Bachelor’s degree, in information technology related field and law.


The scholarship spans one-year for the Masters degree program and three-years for the PhD program.

How to apply for the 2019/2020 NITDA Scholarship

Interested and eligible candidates should log on to the NITDA scholarship portal and upload all relevant documents. Please note that there will be a detailed computer-based aptitude test to determine qualified and successful scholarship applicants. Only eligible candidates will be invited.

In addition, there will be an interview for the best performing candidates (including additional tests, qualification verification & character evaluation).
